How To Start

Collabinart’s Two Key Questions

What do you see?

Identify the facts of the artwork without offering your interpretation of those facts.

How do you see it?

From your own perspective, create an interpretation of what you’re seeing.  Answer questions such as these:  What time period is this?  Where in the world is this?  Who are the people shown?  What relationship do they have with each other?  What is the mood or emotion behind this artwork?  Why did the artist render this painting in the way that they did?  What do you see that makes you say that?

Collabinart’s Four Rules

  • No smartphones! Don’t use electronic devices during the Collabinart experience.
  • Everyone contributes – individually at first, then collectively within cohorts.
  • Support your assertions – using observable facts and good reasoning.
  • Don’t use “OR” – make all your assertions definitive (but be open to changing them).
